Yawn

July 28th, 2009

Don’t you just hate it when you have plans to sleep late and the phone rings far earlier than you were planning to crawl out of bed? That’s what happened to me this morning. As I wrote in yesterdays entry, I was up late getting the inning-by-inning email updates from my brother in regards to my nephews All-Star tournament.

They won their first game of the evening, which meant they had to play their rival in the second game. Granted, this is in the midst of heat and humidity that the Deep South is so famous for. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep my eyes open long enough to get all the updates of the second game, but they didn’t fare too well, and ended up losing, and since that was their second loss, they’ll be heading home today. Today is also the last day of the tournament, and looks like they finished third, which I’ll have to confirm with my brother a little later on.

I wish we were in the same time zone again. Those boys played their hearts out this entire season and I’m not only proud of my nephew, but proud of ALL the boys that made up the team. I hope that after all that great work, that someone took them out for pizza and ice cream. I know I would have.

Now they’ll have less than a week and it’s ‘back to school’. My how this summer has flown by.
