To Wii or Not to Wii-

May 14th, 2009

That is the question. If you’ve been around for a while, you’ve probably heard me mention that I would love to have a Wii. I’ve been wanting one for a while, but still haven’t actually bought one. Why, you ask? Because I wonder if I’ll actually use it as much as I think I will.

I make a comment to Marcel about them everytime I see them on sale somewhere, and when I see the Wii Fit and other Wii accessories, I tell him that I really want it.

His response is to buy it, but again- the same question looms. “Will I really use it?”

The fun thing is, I can play with my nephew online who doesn’t live near me, and it would give us time together even though we aren’t physically together. I could do the same with some of my other friends, and I think that would be fun. I think it would be a great source of additional exercise to add to my daily routine- plus something different and not boring.

I’m curious what yáll think… If you have a Wii, I’d love to know if you use yours and if you think it’s worth the investment.

I LOVE my wii Fit. If it weren’t for wii Fit, I wouldn’t have exercised at all in ages – I don’t get to the gym often, but wii Fit is right there and nobody’s watching me. I really do get a good workout, worn out and “glistening” and I can feel it the next day. The step aerobics thing is a lot of fun, and I never thought I’d like boxing (I’m so nonviolent), but the boxing trainer thing on wii Fit reminds me of dancing, and you hit a cushion thing, not a person. I don’t like the boxing fighting game in the wii Play Sports pack (whole different game), though my son had a blast kicking my butt… the boxing trainer on wii Fit though, that was so much fun, I did it again and again. Hula hoop, FUNNY!! You really squeeze and move, the faster you to, trying to go around more times. And the yoga, ohmigosh, I absolutely LOVE that – and I always thought I hated yoga! I got a wii just so I could do wii fit – the kids got games as well, but the real reason we got it was so that I could do wii Fit. They have a new personal trainer program now, I can’t remember the name – I’ve not tried it so I can’t vouch for it, but it does look good. Wii Fit looks more fun, though the new one looks more serious. For me it’s all about the fun – if I’m not having fun, then it’s too much like work, and I’m not going to keep doing it.
As for the other games, they’re a lot of fun too – bowling is good, my kids beat me at tennis and baseball and soccer… sigh…
