Soup Tales

December 1st, 2009

I’ll spare y’all the details of why I didn’t stop in and write a few words yesterday, but needless to say it’s one of those monthly kind of things, if you get my drift. Luckily I am feeling somewhat better today than yesterday and have managed to be a little productive, even though not as much as I’d like.

I made a huge pot of chicken soup, which I’m about to dive in to as soon as I finish this. I baked some bread (Ok, I warmed it) and I’m ready to eat. You’ve probably heard me mention that my mother in law usually makes soup during the winter months that we eat on Monday or Tuesday. Well this week my mother in law was feeling a little brave and decided to make some sort of carrot soup. Now I love carrots, and I’ve tried some carrot soup that I really enjoyed, but this was not it. While I do appreciate her efforts, I didn’t care for the soup and neither did Marcel. Apparently his sister didn’t like it much either, so needless to say, it has been scratched from the ‘make in the future’ list and will no longer appear on the menu. Thank goodness. The only way to know though is to try, and she did.

What I do have to share that I know is good is a recipe for vanilla sugar, which can be used for a gazillion different things this time of the year. It’s also a nice gift idea if put in a pretty jar. That recipe will follow in the next entry.

The rest of the week is going to be crazy- I have plans for every single day except Saturday, in addition to work, but on Saturday I’m hoping to get our tree up. It’s an idea anyway.
