Soap Boxes

December 4th, 2009

How many of y’all have been following the health care plans and processes with the Obama administration? I’ve been following it somewhat, but I’ll admit that I tend to get a little bored with all the symantics so I tend to listen sporadically. I do know that some people are concerned that there will be no more private insurance, such as what many people currently have, but I really don’t see that changing anytime soon. I think that NC health insurance will remain what it is, just as many of the other larger companies will also stay put and continue to provide the coverage that they are providing.

What I do think is ridiculous and people may not like to hear this, is people who CAN afford to buy health insurance, but CHOOSE not to and then when they find themselves in need of longer term medical care they EXPECT to get free help because they don’t have insurance. That infuriates me, because I think if YOU can afford health insurance and you choose not to, don’t expect someone else to bail you out of a situation you’ve put yourself in.

I believe that is why people who REALLY need health care can’t get it- misuse of the system. I could get on my soap box about this and stay there all day, but I’ve got work to do, so I won’t. Instead I’ll share some cookies with you in another entry. After all, who doesn’t like Christmas cookies?

Mabel is actually on the forefront of this endeavor and her profession is at ground zero.

Our congressman is in her cellphone and they meet somewhat regularly.

Getting the insurance companies, the AMA and the Nurse Practicioners on the same page is a real task. The biggest log jam is the AMA although we spend way too much in admin costs with or insurance.

I could wax poetic about the subject but it gives me a headache.

    I miss you buddy.

    Merry Christmas.
