Picking Up Where We Left Off

January 9th, 2011

One of the things I love the most about reconnecting with some people that I haven’t seen in years is that with some of them it seems like no time has passed since we saw each other and we pick up right where we left off. It’s odd how with some people you know that you can be candid and talk about anything, while others you tend to just talk about the basics without getting into anything personal.

I’ve been blessed enough that most of the people I’ve reconnected with that we feel as though no time has passed, although in some cases it has been more than 25 years. Those are things that make my soul soar. It feels like I’m putting on a favorite sweatshirt on a cold winter day and it’s warm and cozy. We can laugh about any and everything, including ourselves, plus talk about anything from Urbana Waxing to the pains of raising teenagers (not that I’d have much experience in that area) in this day and age. It’s a great feeling and I’m sure there are some of you who have those people in your life who you have that same type of connection with. In fact, some of you reading this may be the very people that I’m talking about- to you, I’m grateful.
