One- One- Eleven (a little late)

January 2nd, 2011

I had planned to make an entry yesterday (on 01-01-11) to welcome the New Year with open arms but after sleeping late and doing a few things around here before having to get ready to leave again, I ran out of time.

We spent New Year’s Eve at home with mom and diddy. We invited some friends over and we played cards, drank coffee and ATE (boy did we eat) and the year went out with a bang (thanks to the fireworks) although a little soggy (thanks to the rain). It’s probably a good thing that it was raining, since there hadn’t been much rain as of late and it probably kept the fire departments from running around the area putting out fires from all the fireworks in the area.

I usually spend a little time in reflection at the end of the year, but this year I didn’t have a lot of time for that. We did drive mom and dad crazy with some very off-key singing of oldies (These Boots are Made for Walking- Joy to the World (the Jerimiah was a bullfrog version) and several others). It was fun- and good for a lot of laughs, which we had plenty of.

I’d planned on writing something in reflection of 2010, but I think I’ll just leave it where it is- in the past. It was probably one of the most difficult years of my entire life and I am anticipating this year being much better. It definitely wasn’t all negative or difficult because I did get to spend it home with family and friends- I was able to check a few things off my ‘bucket list’ -zip line, swimming with dolphins and taking a cruise. I’ve been able to reconnect with people I haven’t seen in years and the list goes on. Work was great in 2010 and I am trusting that it will be just as great this year.

I have great expectations of this year, which will include the hot air balloon ride (another bucket list item) that Marcel gave me last year for my birthday!

What are your goals for this year? I’ll share some of mine in the very near future (hopefully tomorrow), but right now mom is saying it’s time to eat- left over black-eyed peas, cabbage and sweet potatoes. YUM!
