I’m one of those odd people who only eat soup when it’s cool outside. So when summer rolls around, or any warm temps., you won’t find me eating soup. I was informed a few years ago, by my mom-in-law that it was odd to feel that way, but I personally see soup as more of a winter thing, unless it’s cold soup, and that’s a horse of an entirely different color.

I’ve noticed that with the time change and longer days that have followed, that the temps. are also slowly inching up, which means it won’t be long before I kiss soup goodbye for the next several months, and replace it with delicious salads. Before you ask, I do eat salad in the winter, but I tend to make many more varieties of salads when the weather is warmer. The same goes with coffee- I don’t drink much coffee in the summer, but instead drink liter after liter of iced green tea- brewed and made by none other than yours truely.

All that to say that I decided several days ago that I wanted a huge pot of chicken soup, so I’ve been busy making it most of the day. Luckily, the supermarket has bags of fresh chopped vegetables, which kept me from spending hours in the kitchen chopping fresh parsley, carrots, celery, leeks, etc, and instead it afforded me to open the bag and ‘dump’ them in the chicken broth. All I needed to do is stir. It has been cooking several hours, and I do have to say, my mouth is watering from the smells in the kitchen. Thank goodness it’s almost dinner time. I’m hungry!

Today, I’ve found myself feeling really emotional (more so than usual), and I’m really unsure why. I am chalking it up to hormones, and assume that tomorrow will be much, much better. These things do happen from time to time, so I know it will pass. There are definitely worse things in life- so I can’t complain.

The weather has been absolutely fantastic, with promises of tomorrow being even better. Marcel and I spent some time outside this afternoon playing Canasta, and I beat him yet again. I also beat him yesterday- poor guy isn’t getting a break.

Speaking of breaks- I’m ready for dinner. Time to wake Marcel from his nap.
