Not During Dinner

May 26th, 2010

Don’t you just love it when telemarketers call your house right when it’s time for dinner? That happened to me twice in the past week. The first time they wanted to talk to me about transferring our loans for a lower percentage rate. When I informed the person on the phone that we had NO loans aside from our mortgage she seemed taken aback. She repeated our address to me, and said maybe you have a loan that you recently paid off. “No, we don’t have any loans.” Needless to say, there wasn’t anything she could sell me so she apologized and hung up.

Then the second call (not on the same day) was for someone trying to sell us senior life insurance. I always find it amusing when someone wants to sell us something that doesn’t apply to us, so I had to explain that there were no seniors living in our household unless they considered 40 something senior. They did not, but didn’t hang up before asking if I knew anyone who could benefit. I should have given them my mother in laws number, but I didn’t.

What’s your favorite telemarketing call?

It’s not really a telemarketing call but my favorite call story is when I was a call center customer service representative and I had to explain to a gentleman at least 4 times that the flower arrangement he was trying to order was actually a competitor’s arrangement and we didn’t have anything similar, that he really needed to pick something we had or call the right number. Most the telemarketing calls I get are for steak…
