My Sisters Keeper

September 13th, 2009

Rather than get on my soapbox about something that has me highly annoyed this afternoon, I decided instead to tell you about the wonderful time that I had at the movies Friday night with Desere. We went to see My Sisters Keeper, and wow what a movie.

I had heard that the book ending was different than the movie, so this was one time that I was happy to know that I hadn’t read the book first, and after seeing the movie, I probably won’t read the book, since I know what it’s all about. There were three guys in the theater that night, and one of them happened to be sitting beside me. He was a young guy, probaby around 20, who came with his girlfriend, but we struck up a conversation when I asked him if he needed a tissue for the movie. He laughed, and we joked with each other several times throughout the evening.

At the end of the movie, he looked at me and said “Wow that was a heavy film.” and I was too busy sniffling and wiping my tears to say much of anything. He said.. “Don’t tell anyone, but you aren’t the only one. I admit it- I cried too.” I couldn’t help but smile and I promised him that his secret was safe with me.

I won’t tell you about the movie, just in case you plan to see it, but I will say that it was a wonderful movie, and I would see it again in a heartbeat. Life is precious my friends, life is precious.
