Mini- Vacation (Sort Of)

July 26th, 2012

Yesterday we went on our annual blueberry picking adventure a little more than an hour from our home.  I’m not sure what it is about it that always makes me feel as though I’m on some sort of little vacation, but every single year it’s how I feel.   I love it.   Driving through the middle of the countryside through corn field after corn field to find a farm of blueberry bushes tucked away in the edge of the woods.

It was warm and surprisingly busy, but within less than 1 1/2 hours we had our berries picked and we were headed towards our lunch destination.   When the temps start rising-   I find myself wanting to spend more time eating fresh salads and fruit- so yesterday’s lunch was just that.     We always stop at the same restaurant-   and per the recommendation of our very helpful waiter- I ordered the salad with grilled goat cheese.    He promised me it wouldn’t disappoint, and he was right.
