Intuition- Trust30 (Day 24)

June 23rd, 2011

If you could picture your intuition as a person, what would he or she look like? If you sat down together for dinner, what is the first thing he or she would tell you?

My intuitionwould look just like me-  maybe a little older, a little wiser but like me none-the-less.     If we sat down for dinner together- probably the first thing she’d tell me without a doubt is that I should remember and LIVE the quote that I claim as one of my favorites:  “When people show you who they are- believe them.”   It’s from Maya Angelou and she’s right.

I tend to want to see the best in people and because of that-  I am one who gives chance after chance and have even found myself making excuses for their behavior at times.   I remember having arguments with Carol when I was younger, because there were times when she would tell me that a particular flavor of the week that I happened to be drooling over at the time wasn’t interested in me.   Of course it made me furious-  and I made countless stupid excuses for them and many others over the course of my life.   It made me furious because deep down- I knew she was right.       The reason I’ve done it again and again- is because I guess I wear rose colored glasses and I want to believe that people can be who they try portray themselves to be around others and now who they actually are- based on their actions.

I’ve gotten better over the years- but I still fall prey.   I want to believe and I want to think that maybe it’s me who is seeing things differently than what it really is- but sometimes you just have to believe it when people show you time and time again who they are.   Good or bad.

That’s what my intuition would say to me-   and probably to take off the rose colored glasses of idealism so I can really ‘see’ and once I do-  to listen and move on accordingly.    It’s easier said than done- but I’m getting there.

The secret of fortune is joy in our hands. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
