Dark Clouds Rollin’ In

June 27th, 2009

Rarely is it humid in Neverland, and when it is you can just about rest assured that rain is to follow. I woke up this morning and felt the humidity hanging in the air like a thick winter blanket.

I actually anticipated the rains to roll in within a few hours, but instead, the day became warmer and more humid as the hours passed. Of course, with the rise in humidity and temps, also brought about little annoyances and frustrations within paradise between Marcel and I, which found him snipping at me from time to time over a whole lot of nothing.

I didn’t pay much attention to it though, since I also get grumpy when I find myself too warm, but fortunately I knew it could have been much worse.

In spite of having plans to spend most of the day at home, making preparations for Samantha’s visit, I realized that I was almost out of almonds, so we made a quick dash to the Black Market for almonds, and while I was there I bought some pine nuts, and also some fresh dates.

After arriving home, we spent most of the afternoon cleaning and organizing. Marcel was doing the windows, and I spend several hours cleaning out the pantry, and reorganizing it. I hadn’t done it in a while, and I decided that now was as good of time as any.

In spite of the warm temps (which I admit are nothing like what the Deep South is feeling right now), I did actually cook a warm meal for us tonight, one which neither one of us really wanted to eat because it was too warm. Luckily our small appetites means left overs, and me not having to cook on Monday.

This coming week is going to be filled with getting everything ready for Samantha’s visit, plus a few other things we have planned, such as a dinner out with Hein, Desere and family for his birthday. One thing is for sure, as long as the temps are on the rise, my time in the kitchen is going to be on the decline, so I see a whole lot of salads and grilling on the menu this coming week. The less time I have to spend in the kitchen in this kind of weather, the happier I am.

In the last little while, the skies have darkened and the stillness has been replaced with a slight wind- an indication that we may get that rain yet. I sure hope so.

Tonight, Marcel’s working, and I’m going to spend the evening relaxing on the sofa, and attempting to keep cool.

How are you spending your day?

we just had some extreme thunder storms passing through my world, with lightning AND thunder happening at the same time and rain so hard, I couldn’t hear the radio in my car, besides hardly seeing where I was going. My balcony was almost flooded (drain was blocked). And it was very humid the whole day. It’s still raining outside…

Really odd summer we’re having over here this year…

    Be safe over there!

Your week will be so busy!

Mine is only filled with two appointments so far, yay!

Maybe I can get more stuff done or relax and go to the beach between storms, lol.
