Beautiful Day in the Neighorhood

March 21st, 2009

After dealing with ‘Mr. Grumpypants’  this morning, and him finding his “Happy” pants, we had a great day.   Marcel didn’t sleep well, and I guess that he heard my “WHOO HOOO Somebody dun sent me a text message”  ringtown for my texts, and that was the nail in the proverbial coffin that sent him from a ‘semi’ sleep state to a “I’m awake and really ticked off about it” state.   He got over it though, after he had time to grumble for a little bit about the injustices of being awakened and not getting enough sleep.   I guess he just needed a moment to vent.  I listened,  and eventually he apoogized for reacting the way he did.    One would think that someone had awakened him with a bucket of ice water over his head.

The rest of the day has been great.   We went to the local ticket sales office with plans of buying tickets to see his favorite soccer team play sometime the end of April (his 5 year anniversary gift), but the tickets aren’t going on sale until Wednesday, so we’ll have to attempt to pick them up this coming Wednesdsay, or I may try to get them online to save having to go to the store just for that purpose.  Luckily it isn’t far away, so on the whole it doesn’t really matter.

I spent the afternoon working out and catching up on a few things around here, then we met up with Desere and her youngest and went for a walk in the dunes.  I ran up the tallest dune- something I’d been saying I was going to do for a long time, but had never done.  In fact, I’d only ever been to  this area once before, about a month ago with Desere, but I’ve heard so many stories about this dune that I wanted to run to the top.  When I got to the top of the paved area, I saw that the actual top of the dune could only be reached by climing a pretty tall set of steep stairs, so off I went.    I DID IT, and am still reeling in the rush of that accomplishment.   I was panting like crazy- but what a great feeling.   Next goal, to do it twice.  :)

After dinner, Marcel napped, since he’d worked all night and only have five hours of sleep.  I think tonight we’ll curl up on the sofa and watch a movie.  It has been a while since we’ve done that..   that is providing that there isn’t a soccer match on that he’s itching to watch.  I should find out quickly enough.

The coffee’s ready and my bath is calling.

Happy Saturday!
