When Only a Sandwich will Do

April 30th, 2017

Happy Sunday y’all.. Things have been a bit like a roller coaster here- up and down- mostly with ups- but I am ‘still’ waiting on my laptop to be returned to me. I did see that the Toshiba site said they were finished with it- so I’m waiting to hear more. Hopefully I’ll have it soon, then comes the task of getting it back in order with installing everything etc..

The weather has been great this weekend, which means some time spent outside. I’ve also been adoring the new (to me) Marco Polo app. Do y’all have it? If not- look it up and check it out- because it’s a great way to keep in touch when you want to say something short (or not) but don’t want to type it all out.

Yesterday I was home alone and despite having leftovers- I was craving a sandwich, so that’s what I made- a bacon spinach tomato and avocado sandwich. Tomatoes aren’t in season, so cherry and grape tomatoes were the flavor of the day- I toasted the bread and added Sriracha garlic mayo .. to knock it out of the flavor park. It was delicious.

What are y’all eating this weekend?

Alive and Kicking

April 21st, 2017

I know-  I know — it has been a while.    While life has definitely been keeping me busy-  the reality of why I haven’t written is a little more complicated.

My laptop died.    (insert sad music here)

If there is a silver lining to this-  it’s that my beloved was still under warranty-   so it left this week to be repaired (or hopefully replaced) .

It started acting oddly about two months ago-  the screen would randomly go black, even though it was still running.   The only thing I could do was shut it down and restart.    I suspected a video card driver was the problem, but before I could sort that out-  it started shutting down and rebooting randomly.   I checked the activity log- and it would show that it was a critical shut down, but no clear reason why-    so the puzzle continued.

Even though it was under warranty-  I didn’t want to have to send it for warranty work, because I need my computer for work-  so-   I backed everything up- did a reset.

For a few days it worked perfectly and all was well in the world.

But then around the time of the full moon (cue Twilight Zone music here) the thing went HAYWIRE!       It started with the aforementioned ‘issues’ which escalated to my computer having this weird white noise looking screen where I had to restart-  and it said it was updating and then wouldn’t do anything- and finally it went out-   completely out- and wouldn’t start.. (insert sad face here )

I have always loved Toshiba computers– have had quite a few-  plus recommended them to others, but this one has not been as great as the others I’ve owned.

I packaged it up, returned it on Tuesday, so hopefully I’ll have some answers soon.

In the meantime-    My communication may continued to be sporadic- as typing on an iPhone isn’t ideal.

It’s FriYAY though- and that’s worth celebrating!

Being Neighborly

April 21st, 2017

I think I’ve mentioned it here before, but I often accept packages for my musician (and other) neighbor when no one is at home- and they happen to be able to catch me at home. Yesterday I was walking in from an appointment and they snagged me to ask if I would accept a package. I knew my neighbor was out of town, but he had told me that he was expecting a http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/adam-audio-a7x-powered-studio-monitor and asked if I would be willing to accept it if he arrived while he was away. Since they travel a lot, they have also given us a key to water their plants and so forth when they are away- so last night I sent him a message and let him know what had arrived- and told him that I’d put it in the house since I knew we would miss each other this weekend- as I’ll be out of town and he is coming back into town. He was thrilled- and grateful but I call it the neighborly thing to do.
