Sales Sales Everywhere Sales

February 9th, 2017

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a good sale, but something about ‘stumbling upon’ a great sale tends to bring me even more joy than one I knew about.     Such was the case and point a few days ago.

Back story-   Late last year I picked up a fully automatic coffee machine as a birthday / Christmas gift for Marcel.  He had been complaining about the  machine we had at the time, saying the coffee was no longer good from that machine.   I disagreed with him, but he was so adamant that I finally decided to surprise him with the machine.     We both agree, we love that it grinds the beans each and every time, plus the cappuccinos and other options are great.   It can pretty much make everything.

The milk container that attaches to the machine had a transparent tube which transported the milk up through to the milk frother.  More times than I remember, I kept thinking-   One day we’re going to lose that tubing.   Well that day came a few weeks ago.  We have searched high and low for it-  and it didn’t get put away where it usually was, so all we can conclude is that it was accidentally tossed in the garbage. (This information has a purpose I promise- bare with me.)

I went on the quest online to find this little rubber hose  and it was to be found NO WHERE!    The only way I could find to replace it was to order the entire contraption again- at a price of more than $30.00, which I didn’t think even remotely necessary.   So the quest began to find a piece of hose that would fit.  Armed with the top of the milk container we went to several stores before we realized that we couldn’t find the exact size we needed, but ended up finding an adapter that would work that we could fit into the tubing and well-   we now have cappuccino again!  HURRAY!     I digress!

If you know us in our everyday life-  you know that we’ve been working on home projects for a year now.   We’ve slowly but surely been checking things off our list- and one thing we’ve wanted to do is paint the doors and trimming inside but hadn’t chosen a paint color yet.    We were walking through the home improvement store and low and behold there was this huge table of discontinued ‘last years’ colors that they had marked down to very cheap.  Usually the colors aren’t fabulous (usually too bright or too dark) but we spotted exactly what we needed that we knew should go great with our walls.    After scouring the table to make sure they had enough (after all we knew we needed several quarts) we grabbed four cans and off we went.    The regular price was more than $22 each and we ended up getting them for around $5.50.     I am really excited about it, as it was not only a steal, it was also a project that we’ve been wanting to get started.   The bonus on top of the great price:   The paint is water based, which means no over the top smells that will drive my allergies bonkers.

I also noticed there were a lot of sales happening, but since we didn’t need anything else, we skipped the rest.

Have you found any great home improvement deals lately?

Favorite Products- Bobs Red Mill

January 25th, 2017

If you know me in my everyday world- then you know what a HUGE fan I am of Bob’s Red Mill products. It started with me when I tried their steel cut oats. I was so impressed with the quality and flavor that over the years I’ve tried SO many of their products, I’ve lost count.

BRM-00882-7I’m also a big fan of one-stop-shopping and / or ordering, which is why iHerb is one of my favorite places to order from. Their customer service is second to none (which makes this chick extremely loyal), plus they have a vast assortment of Bob’s Red Mill products (including gluten-free flours). I also ordered freeze-dried fruits from there (great for baking and other projects), supplements, and even my favorite soap.

This morning I had an email that they were having an additional 5.00 off every order until the end of January, so I cashed in by ordering this 7 Grain Pancake and Waffle mix, along with a few other items on my list.   I can’t wait to try this-  It’s one of the products from BRM that I haven’t tried, and it will be great (I think) to use in my new waffle maker that Santa brought me.

Oh and did I mention there is free shipping on all orders over $40, plus no sales tax!  Yep, you read it right.   Don’t Miss out on the 5.00 extra savings until the end of the month, plus the free shipping-   visit iHerb and check out the savings for yourself. You can thank me later.

Ode to Savings AND a Coupon Code

March 25th, 2014

To know me is to know that I LOVE a good deal, and even more than a good deal- I love being able to share that deal with others. I can’t remember if I’ve written on here about iHerb before or not, but iHerb is THE BEST online store for any and everything your heart desires for healthy products.

I’ve ordered from them several times- quite a few of my friends are regular customers, and since they have free shipping over 40.00, I believe it is- you can’t go wrong. They have a great selection of Bob’s Red Mill products- so I tend to order steel-cut oats from them, along with various flours- think coconut, quinoa, sorghum, blue corn and the list goes one.

They also have a ‘free’ product that you can choose from a list- and they’ll include it in your box. I call it a little extra bit of ‘happy’. They have skin products- snack products (Blue Diamond almond thins and Beanitos are two of our faves.), and pretty much all sorts of amazing things, for no more than you’d pay for the same items somewhere else, and in some cases- they are even less expensive, which is a win-win all around.

Their turn around time is also SUPER fast- so I can’t sing their praises high enough. I don’t work for them, and they aren’t paying me to write this- I just like their site and thought I’d share since I was putting my own order together.

They also sent me an email several days ago that they’re having a special so I’ll receive a 5% discount over 60.00, which is a great thing- and if you happened to be a new customer- you will also receive an additional 10.00 off your total order if you spend 40.00 and 5. off if you spend less than 40.

You can find them by visiting http://www.iherb.com?rcode=QJK747 or visit the site directly at iherb.com and use the iHerb coupon code “QJK474” at check out. Enjoy! You can thank me later!

Back to School

July 19th, 2013

It seems like summer vacation just started and last night I noticed several of my college aged friends talking about getting ready to head back to college for the fall semester. They’ve started getting things organized to take back, plus looking at places to get the best deals on everything from bedding to finding textbooks on becksbooks.com. When you’re a college student every dollar counts. I remember those days oh-so-well. I always loved the buzz and hype for the new school year. Even to this day- I still love school supplies. I guess some things never change, no matter how old you become.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday

November 27th, 2012

This year was a first for us- We went out as a family on Black Friday. Mom, dad, my brother and his girlfriend, plus Marcel and I. We decided early on that we weren’t going to get out and fight the really early ‘madness’ of the early openings of Wal-Mart and such, plus also decided to skip the Midnight Madness at Tanger Outlets- but instead, decided to leave the house at 5 a.m.- have some breakfast out and about (which for me was a pumpkin spice waffle from Waffle House), and then just see what we could find.

We didn’t really have an agenda, but there were a couple of places we wanted to hit- and since I needed a new pair of black Mary Jane’s – we hit Shoe Station and I was able to get an extra 25% discount on a pair that were already on sale! YAY!

Cyber Monday I also scored some pretty good deals online with coupon codes and free shipping. Now I wait for them all to arrive :) Aside from a few little things- I’m done with Christmas shopping!

Looking for Deals

April 18th, 2012

My family considers me to be the person they turn to when they need to find something online. It isn’t that they can’t do it on their own, because they can and do, but I keep looking til I am totally satisfied with the service and price, like the coolant pump I found for a friend of my parents not too long ago.

Some people don’t have the patience or energy to invest, but when I know it could literally save hundreds just by taking the time- its worth every second.

Golden Opportunity

February 25th, 2011

I’ve been a little busy the last couple of days, so haven’t been around much.   My time online (with the computer) has been hit and miss, which is why there wasn’t an entry from me yesterday.

A little while ago, I went through my gold jewelry and I’ve come up with several pieces that I never wear.  I mentioned several in another entry, but I’ve since gone through everything again and found other pieces that I don’t wear and probably won’t wear, so why not cash in on it while the gold prices are so high?    I’ll check the latest gold prices tomorrow before I go, and do the math- so I’ll have an idea of what to expect.  If I don’t like the price-  I won’t sell.  It’s that simple.   I’ll keep y’all posted.

Smart Shopping

January 19th, 2011

Mom and diddy are kind of new to the whole online shopping experience, but as most of us know, I am not. I found some amazing deals online and sometimes at a huge savings over the department store prices. If you know anything about me, then you know how much I love myself a bargain, and I generally like to spread the wealth so to speak when I find something I love. A couple of weeks ago I was actually browsing for some prescription sunglasses and I found GlassesUSA.com. I don’t wear glasses so I’d never been to their site before, but in addition to finding the sunglasses I was looking for, I also found something else- great prices for quality prescription lenses!

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t anything about how to buy glasses online but since mom and diddy both wear prescription glasses, I thought it would save them some serious cash if they considered buying online. They definitely trust my judgement when it comes to ordering online, so I suggested that they sit and spend some time browsing the site to see if they could find a type and style of glasses that they’d like to buy. They did, and with a little help from me, they will be placing an order soon.

In addition to the great prices on designer prescription glasses and other glasses, I also thought I’d share with y’all the coupon that I have for an additional 10% when you buy glasses from their site and use the code MOMMY10. Savings on top of savings. Does it get any better than that? I don’t think so! I’m glad I came across the site- especially since it’s going to save mom and diddy some cash. That’s more money in their pocket to use when they visit us later this year.

Deal of the Day (expires November 15)

November 9th, 2010

With the holidays snapping at our heels, I’ve been getting email after email of deals that are being offered by retailers trying to lure in consumers like us. Some of those deals are pretty good, and since I love a good deal- I thought it would be fun to share some of them, especially if it’s something I think y’all will like.

I know I mentioned Christmas Cards not too long ago, and wouldn’t you know- yesterday Hallmark.com sent me an email offering a 25% discount on their website. This deal is only good for a week, and the coupon code to use at check out is : EARLY25. I’ve been a Hallmark fan for as long as I can remember and have used their card ordering and mailing service MANY times with great satisfaction. In fact- the few cards I sent out last year, I used their site. You can choose and personalize the cards- and they’ll print, address and even mail them for you to your home for you to mail yourself, or they’ll send them to the intented recipients. Trust me- it’s easy, peasy- not to mention convenient.

If you place an order, don’t forget to send me a card too. After all, who doesn’t love Christmas cards? They are little bundles of happiness in the mailbox.

Deal of the Day

September 30th, 2010

A while back I wrote about finding this very cool website that will allow you to get discounted gift cards for participating restaurants in your area. This afternoon I received an email that they are having a special sale for today only (with the coupon code WOW at check out) where you can get a $25.00 gift card for only $1.00. Yes, you read it right- $1.00. There are no registration fees, no hidden agendas, plus they don’t expire. You can use one coupon a month and the terms is that for a $25.00 gift certificate you either have to spend at least $50.00 or buy at least two entrees. Personally, I think this is an awesome deal and have given some to my parents and my brother. I also have several that I’ve purchased for us to be used at restaurants that I’ve been wanting to try for a long time and have never taken the opportunity to do so. The great thing is- if the restaurant happens to close down (which happened to me recently on one that I purchased), then you’ll recieve an email from them offering you another gift certificate of equal value. In case you may be wondering where to get this great deal- simply visit restaurant.com and do a search either by state, by city or zip code. Each restaurant usually offers the menu, plus tells you what your additional purchase has to be. It’s a great way to try somewhere new for a fraction of the price. Don’t forget that the deal is only good for today and be sure to enter the code WOW at check out. The certificate will be emailed to you.

Enjoy!

P.S. They also make great gifts.
