With Marcel and I having one project after another happening these days- I find myself getting a little behind on the cleaning. I love having a clean space, but sometimes other things take precedence. Today, since I have a little time to myself, I’m getting some of it done, but I do think that during these busy times, it would be nice to have help cleaning, so that I could fully focus on other things at hand. How many of you have help with cleaning, and does it help you free up time for other things?

I was looking at my jewelry a while back and realized that I have several pieces of gold that I no longer wear. A couple of them have significant sentimental value, so I’d never consider getting rid of them, simply for that fact. The others- are different. They were pieces that I bought myself or that my ex bought me (at my request) and I don’t see myself ever wearing them again. It isn’t because of any issue I have with him, but more because the chain (which I loved when I got it) pulls the hairs on the back of my neck. It always has, and I wore it for about a year before I stopped wearing it completely. It has been in a box ever since- about 19 years. The other piece I’ve had about 17 years, and since the prices of gold are so high right now, I’m strongly considering selling it.
I have read all about how to figure the current market prices on gold (based on the particular karat weight) and what I should expect to receive per gram if I do decide to sell. I’ve found several companies in our area, but the one thing I want to do BEFORE I actually go to their store is use a small scale and find out the exact grams and go from there. I want to KNOW the approximate weight before walking in the store. In other words- I want to make sure I don’t go in blind. I’m not desperate for money, but figured that the cash would be a nice begin for my ‘new furniture’ fund that I’m starting. We probably won’t buy until later in the year, but I want to start saving now.
I’m curious if any of you have ever sold gold and how that worked out for you? Inquiring minds want to know.

I was thinking about Christmas cards earlier and trying to decide if I am going to send any this year. I always love sending Christmas cards but last year I sent very few. I’ll admit that the holidays were pretty hard for me last year and I didn’t feel in the ‘spirit’. This year, I am already feeling the spirit a little bit, so I’m thinking I’ll definitely send more than I did last year, but not as much as I used to.
That leads me to my question- Do YOU send Christmas cards? If you do, when do you start on them?
It seems like over the years people have stopped sending cards the way they used to. Everything is electronic and while there is definitely nothing wrong with that, I admit that I love receiving something physical in the mail that I can open and touch. How about you?

A few days ago I woke up with a headache that I was scared to death would turn into a migraine. When I was younger, there was a time when I actually had migraines every single day and you wouldn’t believe the amount of tests I went through both locally and at Oschner’s Clinic in New Orleans until they were able to get to the root of the problem of it being stress related migraines. Back in the day, there was no such thing as Internet and no websites like www.migrainetreatment.org out there who could offer ideas to try. Marcel always laughs at me because when I feel bad, I always Google my symptoms to see what it could possibly be. He never does that. I guess I just like to learn and know things, or maybe it’s one of those things that women do quicker than men.
Does anyone else look online for possible symptoms when they find they are feeling bad? Do you know men who do it, or does it seem to be mostly women? Inquiring minds want to know.
Oh and the migraines, I rarely get them anymore, and I’m SO thankful for that!

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to grow old more gracefully than others? I’ve often attributed that to strictly genetics, while a friend of mine says that it comes from using the best anti wrinkle creams, but I really think that in reality that it comes from more than that.
I know that I look younger than my almost 43 years, and I’m grateful for that. My mother, also looks younger than her almost 63 years. Part of it may be genetics, while I think that probably a lot of it could be attributed to general lifestyle. I remember meeting my now ex-husbands mother for the first time. At the time she was around the same age as I am now, and she looked as though she was at least 50-55. I knew that it probably wasn’t genetics, but more a question of the life she led, but it was a choice she made, and it showed.
What do you think? Look back 30 years ago at women who were 40 years old during that time, and compare them to 40 now. Don’t you think they look younger? So, what gives? You tell me.

Most of you know that in spite of hoping that Marcel and I would eventually get pregnant and have a little one, that it hasn’t happened and truth is, now that the big ‘4-3’ is quickly approaching, I’m more than happy with that fact. I’ll just be a second mom to everyone elses children and live happily with that fact.
One thing I’m curious about though, is prenatal vitamins. I’ve always been under the impression that they were essential to a healthy pregnancy, but someone that I don’t put much stock in their opinion said to me that they didn’t think they were necessary.
For you moms out there- I’d love to know what you think? I haven’t Googled it to find out what statistics show, but I did find it odd that someone would think they weren’t necessary, but maybe that’s just me.
