Who Would You Give it To?

April 27th, 2010

Sometimes when I see something, it triggers a huge train of thoughts that go totally off in left field. Earlier, Marcel and I were talking about someone he knows who got home security systems, and I found myself wondering about when people get a system, how many people they give the code to.

I have several friends who have given me the code to theirs (although I’ve forgotten them, so that could be worth a refresher if I was going to need to use it), but there are others who only give it to family and no one else. What about you? If you had a security system, who would you give the code to?

I would definately give to my parents and probably a very small list of friends. You know- those True Blues that I talk about from time to time.

It Was a Pain- Literally

April 19th, 2010

A few days ago I woke up with a headache that I was scared to death would turn into a migraine. When I was younger, there was a time when I actually had migraines every single day and you wouldn’t believe the amount of tests I went through both locally and at Oschner’s Clinic in New Orleans until they were able to get to the root of the problem of it being stress related migraines. Back in the day, there was no such thing as Internet and no websites like www.migrainetreatment.org out there who could offer ideas to try. Marcel always laughs at me because when I feel bad, I always Google my symptoms to see what it could possibly be. He never does that. I guess I just like to learn and know things, or maybe it’s one of those things that women do quicker than men.

Does anyone else look online for possible symptoms when they find they are feeling bad? Do you know men who do it, or does it seem to be mostly women? Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh and the migraines, I rarely get them anymore, and I’m SO thankful for that!

Genetics or Lifestyle?

February 14th, 2010

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to grow old more gracefully than others? I’ve often attributed that to strictly genetics, while a friend of mine says that it comes from using the best anti wrinkle creams, but I really think that in reality that it comes from more than that.

I know that I look younger than my almost 43 years, and I’m grateful for that. My mother, also looks younger than her almost 63 years. Part of it may be genetics, while I think that probably a lot of it could be attributed to general lifestyle. I remember meeting my now ex-husbands mother for the first time. At the time she was around the same age as I am now, and she looked as though she was at least 50-55. I knew that it probably wasn’t genetics, but more a question of the life she led, but it was a choice she made, and it showed.

What do you think? Look back 30 years ago at women who were 40 years old during that time, and compare them to 40 now. Don’t you think they look younger? So, what gives? You tell me.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know

January 13th, 2010

Most of you know that in spite of hoping that Marcel and I would eventually get pregnant and have a little one, that it hasn’t happened and truth is, now that the big ’4-3′ is quickly approaching, I’m more than happy with that fact. I’ll just be a second mom to everyone elses children and live happily with that fact.

One thing I’m curious about though, is prenatal vitamins. I’ve always been under the impression that they were essential to a healthy pregnancy, but someone that I don’t put much stock in their opinion said to me that they didn’t think they were necessary.

For you moms out there- I’d love to know what you think? I haven’t Googled it to find out what statistics show, but I did find it odd that someone would think they weren’t necessary, but maybe that’s just me.
