Staring at the Tube

September 1st, 2010

I have to be the first to say that while being sick I’ve watched more television than I have all summer long. I guess you could say I watched it- I guess the more accurate word would be glared at the LCD TV, and most of the time it was from bed. I think I still have a way to go before I have my strength back and before I feel 100%, but at least I actually have the energy to sit up, so that’s a step in the right direction. Mister M. has been keeping me in constant company and that alone makes me smile and feel a little better.

I’m still sleeping late, but I must need the rest. I’m going to attempt doing some work today and see how that goes. Hopefully I can get something done, if not everything.

5 O’ Clock Friday’s (No Surprise Here)

August 20th, 2010

It should come as no surprise to anyone who read this space that this week’s 5 O’ Clock Friday’s was a picture of none other than my new beloved iPhone 4.   I wrote earlier about picking it up yesterday and the more I use it, the more I love it.

It isn’t too late to take your own pictures for 5 O’ Clock Friday’s and get them submitted to me via email at lori (@) this website (simplywizardress.com).  I’ll then share them here or if you have your own blog and have added the picture there- let me know and I’ll link to you so I can see it, and everyone else can as well.

He’s Here!

August 20th, 2010

Yesterday morning I recevied a text message that I thought was from a friend.  When I walked over to my phone, it was a message that said-  “The iPhone 4 that you ordered has arrived and you can pick it up at the store location.  Don’t forget your deposit receipt to claim your phone.”    Needless to say, I was over the moon about that text.  I immediately started squealing with delight (Yes, it’s the little things that make me happy) and I finally told Marcel what I was squealing about.

I finished breakfast and we headed to the store to pick him up.   I came home, synced my old iPhone with iTunes (because I hadn’t done it in a while) and then set up my new one.   iTunes transferred all my stuff from my old iPhone to my new one and I’m loving it!  All I can say is WOW at the performance, the speed, the everything!

Because the new iPhone uses a micro SIM card- I’m going to need to go back to the store and get another ‘duo’ SIM so that I can use it in my old phone.  It won’t allow me to use both phones at the same time, but what it will do is allow me to use the old iPhone as a backup, or to use it when I’m out running and such.  I haven’t noticed any issues with the antennae problem, but I’m going to order the free case to have on hand, just in case.

Waiting- Not so Patiently

August 17th, 2010

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I finally couldn’t stand it any longer and ordered the iPhone 4. I’m still waiting to get the word that it has arrived and needless to say my wait isn’t very patient. I can’t wait to start using it. Several people have asked me what I plan to do with my current iPhone, and I plan to keep it as a back up, just in case. I’ve also been considering iphone 4 insurance after seeing one of my Facebook friends with a crushed iPhone 4 after a night out with ‘friends’. He said he woke up to find his phone like that, but I’m not sure I completely buy that story. It still makes me think that maybe insurance wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

Server Problems

August 16th, 2010

I’ve been itching to get on here all day, but every time I attempt to go to any of my sites, I’ve received a “page not found” error. I talked to tech support three times and found that they were under a DDOS attack and hoped to get it under control.

I’m lying in bed typing this on the WordPress application from my iPhone. Once you’re able to read this, the attack is over- hopefully for good.

Ode to iPhone

August 4th, 2010

Ok, this isn’t really an ode to the iPhone, but instead it’s more of a confession that I gave in to temptation (in spite of a year left on my current contract) and I ordered the new iPhone 4.   Don’t get me wrong- I love my current ‘eye’, but I also love gadgets and technology so much that I caved to the temptation.    Several people have asked why I ordered it now when it meant that I have to pay a fee to extend my contract.   The answer is simple- because I wanted to.

Other’s have asked if I’m worried about the current ‘antenna’ issues that some people have reported and the answer to that is, No, I’m not.   IF I need it, I can use the case that Apple is providing, but I honestly don’t expect that I’ll need it.  I don’t hold my phone the same way that people who reported having problems hold their phone, PLUS my friend Samantha has one, along with several other people that I know, and they haven’t had any problems at all.    I’m going to have to wait several weeks to get it, but I honestly can’t wait to have it in my hot little hands.

Yes, it’s the little things that make me smile and some of those little things come in the form of the iPhone 4.

The Ring Says it All

June 18th, 2010

Now that Marcel has his new telephone, I’ve been trying to get him set up with personalized ringtones. Since I’m the technical minded one of the two of us, he tells me which ringtones he wants for whom and I make sure he gets them. A few days ago he had me browsing through Katy perry ring tones because he wanted to choose one for his sister. I think the one he ended up getting was Waking up in Vegas, because he said it reminded him of her. At this point in time, he hasn’t made the choice as to which one will be mine, but if I have my say so, it will be something like I’ve Got a Feelin’ because I absolutely love that song.

Personally, I only have ringtones for my absolute favorite people, but it does keep things simple. I guess there are probably 10 people I have specialized ring tones for and there is no confusing who is calling when they call. Plus it’s handy if I’m busy with something because I don’t even have to go to the phone to find out who is calling, I just hear the song and know. That in itself can be a good thing, especially if it’s someone you know you don’t want to talk to, no matter what the time of day or night.

Gadget Girl

June 17th, 2010

Even though I haven’t mentioned it yet here, I guess most of you probably know I was very excited to see the 4th generation ‘eye’ phone announced last week. In fact, I have already been plotting and planning and ‘thinking’ about how I’d love to order one, but I’ll probably wait until my contract is up next year. Marcel suggested that I buy an unlocked phone and then I wouldn’t have to worry about waiting until my contract is up, but right now i just don’t know about that. I think I’ll wait, or at least that’s what I’m saying right now. Tomorrow could be a different story. I am such a geek. I love gadgets.

Ringtones for All My Favorite People

May 10th, 2010

Marcel called me a little earlier on my cell while I was out walking JJ, and I realized that I didn’t have a customized ringtone for him on my phone. I’ve been thinking about getting some new ringtones for a while, and would like something cute like the snuggle song for him and only him. I think while I’m downloading either Warner Artist or EMI ringtones to my phone for my sweetie, I will also get one for mom, diddy and the rest of my friends. I plan to get a song that reminds me specifically of that person, and assign it to them, that way when the phone rings, I’ll know it’s them without even glancing at the phone.

Do you have customized ringtones on your phone? If so, I’d love to hear what they are, and why you chose them for that particular person.

Men

May 8th, 2010

This afternoon when I got home from a day out with friends, Marcel informed me that he’d found what he wanted for his birthday gift this year. Since his birthday isn’t until October, and since I figured it was going to be something expensive, I figured I would at least have time to save some money. I asked him where he’d seen this potential gift, and he said he’d seen the epson tm-t88iv when he went into the office at work to have some copies made of something or other that he needed for his anniversary with the company.

Am I the only person who has husbands who want these really outrageous gifts? Last week he wanted a million dollar car. At least I guess the printer is a step in the right direction.
