Lavender Roses

July 21st, 2010

Last week when it was my birthday, Marcel brought home some beautiful mauve colored roses on Tuesday.   Technically my birthday was on Monday, but we were gone all day and he knew that the florist didn’t get the fresh shipment in until Tuesday so he snuck out of the house under the guise of helping a neighbor with her washing machine and came back with a huge bouquet of beautiful mauve roses.   I actually meant to take a picture of them, but things were a bit hectic last week (and this one too, for that matter), and I missed out.

Sadly, after three days, those roses started dying.   Even though it has been pretty warm, that’s unheard of.  On Saturday, the roses looked horrible and I suggested that Marcel call the florist.   I was headed out the door so I trusted that he would take care of it, and he did.   When I got home, he told me that he’d called the florist and they’d asked him to bring the flowers in.   It’s just around the corner from our home, and the apologized saying that they’d deliver a new bouquet on Monday, between 3 and 6 p.m.     The picture to the left is the result of that delivery.       I’ve never had purple roses before, but then again, I’d never had mauve roses either, and now I’ve had both.   These seem to be faring much better than the others.   Let’s hope that continues to be the case, otherwise they may have lost a customer.
