100 Happy Days- Day 15

July 3rd, 2014

day15A close friend asked me back in May if I’d like a couple of zucchini plants.  She had too many and didn’t want to destroy them, so I decided to give it a go.    I’m a huge flower and herb grower, but I’ve never really grown any vegetables, outside of a few tomatoes in the 90’s, when I lived in Williamsburg, VA.    So, I took the two plants, and I also ended up purchasing a cherry tomato plant.    I wasn’t sure what would happen, but one thing I did know- was that I would give it the same love that I gave all my other flowers and herbs.

Apparently, that was just what they needed, as they’ve thrived- and I cut the first zucchini from the plant today!  It was a big deal to me-   and even Marcel came out for the ‘festivities’.   Now to decide how to eat it.   It’s so great growing your own food.    If you don’t believe it-  give it a try.
